TENNIS: Over the past two weeks, the Colyton Street home of Hervey Bay Tennis has been used by some of our local community as a venue for electric scooter racing, which has damaged nearly two-thirds of the courts.
The Hervey Bay Tennis Association asks for any information about who the offenders are to advise the association or let the police know.
Deep wheel tracks are visible on seven of the courts, with the cost of replacing each court being upwards of $30 000.
Some of the courts damaged include two courts that were re-surfaced only two weeks ago.
“We need this type of behaviour to stop before the damage is so great that we no longer have a tennis centre,” Hervey Bay Tennis Association President Geoff Arnell said.
The centre does have security cameras, and vision and the police have been notified.
