Sunbury Football Club Junior Report

Sunbury Football Club junior report compiled by Lyn Sawtell

What a great day on Saturday to be back into football.

All Teams had fun and loved being back on the park.

u/7: Holly in her first role as Coach of the u/7 Whites just loved being with her little charges. She said they all worked brilliantly together in both defence and attack.

Tom Finn scored an amazing goal from kick-off. Charlotte Hooper was dedicated to scoring a goal and ran the ball upfield on many occasions and ended up scoring a great goal.

Christian Loweke and Austin Board never stopped running and moving the ball forward. Holly was very proud of them all and is excited to continue the season with them.

u/9: The Blues fought out a tough game with Parx and Harminnie playing well in the midfield while Lilly scored the only goal of the match. The Whites played a tough game with everyone run off their feet.

Archer had a great game in goals while Jared and Zayden did well upfront.

The Vikings after a slow start picked up with 3 quick goals by Xavier, Zander and Parx all netting a one each. Stevie and Jaxsen were great in defence.

u/10: The Blues started off well with Ryan and Noah working well together while Noah, Makayla and Seth were great in defence. Great effort kids.

The Whites had a great start to the season with Alivia, Lachie and Sam holding strong in defence. Taylee, Mia and Jenna were great in midfield with an impressive first game by Evie. Well done team.

u/12: The Blues had an impressive win against Tinana Falcons after the break with all players putting in a great effort. Goal scorers were Jesse Blackaby with a hattrick, Chris Chapman, A Farrell and I Ogilvie all with a goal each.

u/13: Sunbury U/13’s started strongly with accurate passing leading to long periods of possession. Isaac Cameron, Jacob Darnell, Ewan Anderson, Nate Rosin and Cooper Killeen all shared midfield duties in supporting the defence and attack.

Hudson Nitz in goals made a couple of saves to deny the opposition chances on goal. The defence controlled by Jaiden Goodwin led his backs of Jack Finn, Ryan Smith and Matthew Town to shut out United’s attack. Andrew Fouracre-Keys, Jai Richter and Cye Negus playing out wide gave some great crosses for Byron Sawtell and Hunter Murdoch to have multiple shots on goal.

The Blues passing and possession for most of the game was great to see, just need to work on the final execution. Goal scorers for the Blues were Hunter Murdoch bagging four with Ewan Anderson chipping in with one. The Blues went on to win 5-2.

Jacob Darnell and Jack Finn were named Dominos Hotshots.

u/14: Th team travelled to Hervey Bay and came away with a solid win against United Warriors. All players combined well.

u/15 Blues: in their first game back took on the challenge of the older u/16 Doon Villa Team.

A quick goal by Villa saw the team toughen up and played some great football. Many shots on goal went unrewarded.

The team worked well together to hold out until the last few minutes of the game.

The team is the youngest in the group and will meet the challenge of older teams and play some clever football in the future.

Awesome first game back. Well done girls and boys.
