FOOTBALL: Sunbury Football Club wishes to congratulate all our players who travelled to Sunshine Coast for the Winterfest Carnival and is very Proud of all the player’s efforts. Following are a couple of reports received.
Congratulations to our Sunbury Girls Baylee, Dekoda and Mackenzie, who played Wide Bay Football recently on the Sunshine Coast in the Winterfest Carnival. These young ladies gave 100% effort against some tough opposition. They won games, drew and lost some but came away with smiles, made new friends and had fun. The girls finished the carnival on a high with a 3-1 win. What an amazing effort. Well done, Girls.
Well done to Roman, Jacob and Sam, the Sunbury boys in the u11 and u/10 Wide Bay Teams. The u/11 Team, under the guidance of Sunbury Coach Ian (Wide Bay Academy Coach), continued to work on gelling as a team, played very well in the first half against quality competition and started to put it all together towards the end of the tournament, while the u/10 team were excellent putting in some big performances against strong opposition. Awesome work, boys.
The Junior Competition has passed halfway, with our teams progressing very well.
Sunbury u/16 Team started the season strongly and remains undefeated. The team continues to show loyalty to each other on the field, which is evident by the results. The boys keep improving each game, making them more eager to continue their good form on the park. The teams for and against are impressive and a testament to their strong defence and attack. Keep up the team effort, and always strive to do your best.
The u/14 Team is in 4th place, but that doesn’t define them. These kids can tackle any opposing team by defeating teams higher on the ladder. The match of the round was against the league leaders Granville. The team had a 2-1 lead for most of the game until an equaliser was scored at full-time. It was a fascinating match to witness played by a great bunch of kids with determination and belief. Top effort by all.
The u/13 Team, in their first experience of competition playing nine a side on a smaller field, are playing some great football. The teamwork is amazing, which has this young team undefeated at this stage of the season, although there have been a few close games that keep everyone grounded as they try to improve. The teams For and Against are excellent. Sixty-six goals have been scored, with only nine against. A few players who also play other sports will be back full-time after the holidays. The defence has been outstanding, and the two captains, Lachy and Sam, lead the team very well, combining everyone into the game. Coach Greg is very proud.
Our little Mini Roos are always fun to watch; the results aren’t important, but having fun, learning to play as a team, making friends, and listening are all part of the learning process. Sunbury Football Club is very proud.
