Media Release from Football Queensland.

FOOTBALL: Football Queensland (FQ) is excited to announce the 2022 Central Coast Intercity Cup will be hosted at Martens Oval in Bundaberg on Saturday, 30 April.

The Central Coast Intercity Cup will feature an FQPL Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s All-Stars match as the best players from the Central Coast and Wide Bay regions go head-to-head.

“Football Queensland is delighted to announce the return of the 2022 Central Coast Intercity Cup for another year, which will showcase some of the most talented senior men’s and women’s players from the Central Coast and Wide Bay,” General Manager — Central Coast Region Andy Allan said.

“After a successful inaugural event in 2021, I am extremely excited that senior players are again able to test their skills against players from outside of the region and get exposure to playing at the representative level.

“Providing these development opportunities are a major part of the Football Queensland Strategic Plan, which outlines a focus on delivering high-quality participation experiences and providing accessible talent pathways for all players.

“I look forward to seeing the talent on show as the best senior male and female players come together for the Central Coast Intercity Cup this April.

All Wide Bay coaches can submit an application for a coaching role in the event with successful coaches contacted by Football Queensland.

Clubs can nominate an unlimited number of players from their FQPL Men’s and/or Women’s side to be part of the initial squad selection. If successful, players will be contacted by Football Queensland to attend a training session where final squad selections will take place. Football Queensland will be in contact with Wide Bay coaches and all FQPL Men’s and Women’s clubs with coach application and player nomination information.
