FISHING REPORT – FREEDOM FISHING SUPPLIES

Fishing Report and Images provided by Freedom Fishing Supplies.

FISHING: Hello, school holidays; the Fraser coast has been putting on some lovely weather for the holidaymakers. Slightly higher winds but not bad enough to keep the diehard anglers off the water. Let’s check out the fishing report.

Platypus Bay has been firing on all cylinders with reports of Blackspot tusk fish up to 5kilo, Golden Trevally and Tuna smashing the bait balls and chopping at the surface.

The inshore reefs such as Sammy’s, Moon Ledge, and Mickey’s have been producing a mixed bag of reefies, including Blackall, grassy Sweetlip, Purple tusk fish and Estuary Cod.

Sports fisho’s have been in their element sight fishing on the sand flats and yabbie banks around Moon Point on the making tide with Trevally, G.T’s and Snub Nose Dart taking soft plastics, hard bodies and poppers.

The Mary River is still running a bit fresh. However, Threadfin Salmon, Grunter, Silver Bream, and Flathead have been landed between Beaver Rock and River Heads, including the Susan River. And the snags along the banks are holding some beautiful black Bream around the kilo mark.

While the entire estuary system of the sandy straits has been fishing well, Poona and Butha Creeks on the mainland and Panama, Rocky and Alligator Creeks on Fraser Island have been the hot spots for Mangrove Jack, Estuary Cod and Threadfin Salmon. There have also been several Barramundi reported.

A few good muddies have been potted in the mouths of the creeks and in the deeper parts of the channels. Some have even been lucky enough to pick up a few when wading on the sand flats.

We have had great prawn reports; however, they seem to be moving around, so pinpointing them is proving a challenge.

Mangrove Jack is on the menu for Bruce.
James with his 84cm saltwater Barra.
Jan is doing it for the girls, landing this 15kg Cod in the Straits. Awesome.
Max had a great day out; his Black Bream weighed in at .532 kg.
Tony with a beautiful Scarlet SeaPerch. It weighed in at 4.4 kg.
