SPORT: With predictions of much-needed rain, local sports officials will be checking the radar and looking towards the skies as they prepare for an entire weekend of sport.

AFL: Round two matches have AFL action return to the Fraser Coast with the Hervey Bay Bombers hosting the Gympie Cats at Norm McLean Oval from 3 pm while Brothers Bulldogs start their season at home against Across the Waves.

HOCKEY: Core Cup action returns this weekend in Maryborough with matches to be played on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. Some excellent hockey action always played in good spirit. Check the Maryborough Hockey Association website for game times and full schedule.
BMX: The Maryborough BMX club return to the track tonight for another night of BMX.
FOOTBALL: A trial match between Doon Villa and Granville at Villa Park with men and women’s games with the women the feature match at 7 pm.
CRICKET: The Fraser Coast Senior Cricket round 23 action continues with Cavnish playing Bushrangers in Hervey Bay while Past Grammars play Ausrocks in Maryborough. Matches start at 12.30 pm.
SOFTBALL: Maryborough and Hervey Bay Associations continue with their fixtures with the Hervey Bay Association games held in Bundaberg on Saturday. Maryborough matches will be at the Maryborough Softball grounds.
RUGBY LEAGUE: Wallaroos and Hervey Bay Seagulls will travel to Bundaberg to play in a League Nines competition hosted by Wests.

SPORTS AWARDS: The nomination period for the 2021 Fraser Coast Sports Awards is closing in just a few weeks.
The Fraser Coast Regional Council will be hosting the 2021 Fraser Coast Sports Awards. The event will acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of the Fraser Coast community sporting groups – their volunteers, players, officials, coaches and sporting achievements over the past 18 months.
