An agreement was reached to provide students with real-life opportunities in their chosen area of journalism.

Selected students will receive on the job training and be able to report on the plethora of sport in the Fraser Coast Region.

Their stories will be edited and used to provide the best and up to date sports information to the Fraser Coast.Principal Simon Done is an enthusiastic supporter of the partnership.

“The partnership will provide a true community link for the students to start in their chosen profession and provide an avenue for reporting by the community, for the community. Our students will receive real skills in a future profession.” he said

Mr. Done believes the experience gained will give these students the edge moving forward in their chosen field.

“These skills are teachable to some extent in theory but working as a real journalist in a real environment cannot be matched for an opportunity for a future career.”

FC Sports Media editor Brendan Bowers welcomed the opportunity to work with the students to deliver sporting news to the community.

“It is a great opportunity to engage with the students and the community to deliver local sporting news stories,” he said.

The partnership delivers on FC Sports Media’s vision of ‘Our Sport – Our Community’.
