WEEKEND SPORT: Hi everyone, Dash here; I hope you have had a great week. What a weekend of sport we have on the Fraser Coast this week. You must not have a pulse if you can’t find a sport to watch this weekend.
TRIATHLON: The schools state triathlon gets underway in Hervey Bay on Friday and continues Saturday, with athletes from around the state competing to earn state selection.
HOCKEY: The annual Core Cup Hockey tournament gets underway on Friday night in Maryborough and continues over the weekend.
AFLW: The first round of the AFL Wide Bay women’s competition gets underway. The Maryborough Bears host Bay Power while the Bombers play ATW in a grand final replay at Norm McLean Oval.
RUGBY 7’S: The inaugural Fraser Coast Rugby Festival kicks off on Saturday with a full day of rugby action at the Fraser Coast Mariners fields, competing teams from all over the state.
MOTOCROSS: Round, one of the Sunshine State motocross series, gets underway in Hervey Bay over the weekend with racing action on both days.
FOOTBALL: Saturday, Doon Villa will host Across the Waves in round three of the Australia Cup at 5 pm. While in Hervey Bay, the Fraser Flames play the United Park Eagles at 6 pm.
CRICKET: Ausrocks are up against Bushrangers Gold. The Bushie’s Blue team play Cavaliers, and Cavnish takes on Past Grammars.
SOFTBALL: Maryborough and Hervey Bay Softball continues with all Hervey Bay teams playing the round in Bundaberg to support the Coral Coast Association blue day. They will raise funds and awareness for the Beyond Blue Foundation.
SPEEDWAY: It is the final round of the Production Sedans and the Junior Sedans at Maryborough Speedway this Saturday. National 4’s and Modlites will also be racing. Get out and check out some of the action. Gates open at 1 pm with racing from 4 pm.
CYCLING: The final round of the Trade Tool Super Crit series gets underway on Sunday from 7 am at the Hervey Bay Airport Industrial Circuit.
