WEEKEND SPORT: Hi guys, Dash here; I hope you have had a good week. We have a great weekend of sport over the next few days with plenty of action around the Fraser Coast.
AFL: This week features a top-of-the-table clash between the 2021 season grand finalists Across the Waves and the Hervey Bay Bombers at Frank Coulthard Oval.
Brothers Bulldogs host Gympie at Brothers Sports Ground while Bay Power travels to Maryborough to play the Bears in the other round matches.
The men’s Reserves competition begins on Saturday with ATW playing the Hervey Bay Bombers, and the Maryborough Bears up against Bay Power.
FOOTBALL: In the men’s competition this week, Sunbury celebrates its 50th season and hosts Granville at Federation Park, Maryborough, and follows it up with a dinner where plenty of stories will be told. Bingera hosts the United Park Eagles while S.C. Corinthians play the KSS Jets.
Across the Waves hosts the Fraser Flames in Bundaberg on Saturday night in Australia Cup action.
Tinana takes to the pitch against Across the Waves in Maryborough on Friday night in women’s Premier League action while Diggers host the KSS Jets at Martens Oval. Sunbury is up against the United Warriors in Maryborough.
The Fraser Flames play the United Park Eagles in Bundaberg’s Kappa Women’s Super-Cup.
CRICKET: The Fraser Coast Cricket grand final will be this Saturday with Bushrangers Gold and Cavaliers to battle. The game begins at 12.30 pm.
RUGBY LEAGUE: It is that time of the year, early autumn, with the days cooling slightly and the smell of liniment starting to waft through the air as the winter football seasons begin.
The Bundaberg Rugby League senior competitions are the next to kick-off, with the A and Reserve competitions beginning tomorrow. The Under 18 competition begins in round three.
The day begins on the main field with ATW playing Hervey Bay in reserve grade before their A grade team’s battle.
They will be followed by Easts and Wallaroos and Brothers and Wests A grade clashes.
Field two will host the Easts and Wallaroos and Brothers and Wests reserve grade games.
NETBALL: The Hervey Bay Netball Association fixtures continue tomorrow, with the Fraser Coast Sports and Recreation Precinct hosting matches from early in the morning.
CYCLING: Round 2 of the B MEE Super Crit Series is this Sunday, with the Fraser Coast Cycling Club hosting the event at the Hervey Bay Industrial Estate Circuit. The first race begins at 7 am.
HOCKEY: Hockey action continues in Hervey Bay and Maryborough over the weekend, with Granville and Tinana playing in Maryborough on Saturday in the Fraser Coast Women’s competition.
Hervey Bay will host the Magpies and Bolts in the women and Granville and CBR and Hervey Bay Brothers and Magpies in the men.
