WEEKEND SPORTS: Happy Fraser Coast Show holiday weekend; I hope you enjoy the extra day’s break. Although it is not a typical weekend of sports, there are still plenty of options to get out and grab your local sports fix.
AFL: It is the subsequent Battle of the Bay round, with the Hervey Bay Bombers hosting Bay Power on Saturday in senior matches. The reserves, women, and men will clash at Norm McLean Oval tomorrow afternoon. Junior games will also be played prior, with some matches set in Bundaberg.
FOOTBALL: After some mid-week matches, the FQPL3 competition continues, with Doon Villa hosting Across the Waves in Maryborough tonight in the women’s, with the Fraser Flames playing UPE in Bundaberg.
In the men’s Bingera plays the SC Corinthians, Doon Villa hosts the Waves, UPE and Fraser Flames meet, while Sunbury and the KSS Jets play at Federation Park. All matches are to be played on Saturday evening.
RUGBY LEAGUE: Both Fraser Coast senior clubs are away this weekend, with Wallaroos playing the Waves Tigers and the Seagulls up against Easts while Brothers and Wests clash. All games are at Salter Oval. Mini and Mod matches will be at Torbanlea on Saturday, with international junior matches scheduled for Hervey Bay and Maryborough on Sunday.
HOCKEY: Premier League semi-finals get underway on Saturday, with Bundaberg hosting the women’s games while Hervey Bay hosting the men’s.
In Bundaberg, Bolts play the All Blacks, UniRoos play the Magpies, while Granville Rovers and Waves Cities, Arrows, and Raiders Rovers play off for final sports.
The Hervey Bay games have Raiders Rovers and Arrows meeting, with Hervey Bay Brothers and All Blacks meeting in the lower-ranked play-offs. CBR, Magpies, Granville, and Waves Cities meet, with the winners progressing to the grand finals.
CYCLING: The Fraser Coast Cycling Club are hosting a Crit Race in Maryborough on Sunday at the old Sexie Coffee Venue, Enterprise Steet Maryborough. Racing begins at 7 am, with the A-grade racing beginning at 7.55 am.
