DASH’S WEEKEND SPORTS DIARY

WEEKEND SPORT:  Hi guys, Dash here!  What a big weekend of sport around the Fraser Coast for you to check out.  I have put my nose to the ground to find what is happening around the region.

SWIMMING:  The Hervey Bay Masters Swimming Club host their annual swim meet. 

113  competitors from 23 clubs will hit the water at the Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre on Saturday.

FOOTBALL:  Wide Bay Football kicks off this weekend with action in the Women’s Kappa Cup knock-out competition and Premier League fixtures.  The United Park Eagles play KSS Jets, and the Fraser Flames are up against Across the Waves.  Both matches are at Martens Oval in Bundaberg.

In the men’s Premier League competition, Granville hosts UPE at Canning Street, the Fraser Flames play Doon Villa at the Fraser Coast Sports Precinct, and the KSS Jets take on Sunbury at Federation Park.  In Bundaberg, Bingera plays Across the Waves.  SC Corinthians have the bye. 

CRICKET:  In a repeat of last week, Ausrocks host Cavnish in the Fraser Coast Senior Cricket knock-out semi-final while Cavaliers and Bushrangers Gold play for the winner to progress to the Grand Final.

AFL: The Hervey Bay Bombers host the Gympie Cats in the women’s AFL competition while Bay Power travels to Bundaberg to play ATW.  The Maryborough Bears host Brothers Bulldogs in Maryborough.

SOFTBALL:  The Hervey Bay/Coral Coast Softball grand finals will be held at Brothers Bulldogs fields in Bundaberg on Saturday.  Good luck to our local teams while the Maryborough Softball Association will host their grand finals.

RUGBY LEAGUE:  The Wide Bay Bulls host the Toowoomba Clydesdales in the ‘Battle of the Farmyard’ at Eskdale Park in Maryborough on Saturday with the under 19 women, under 16 and 18 boys game scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

HOCKEY:  Fraser Coast Hockey action returns this weekend with matches beginning in Maryborough tonight.

EXTREME COWBOY RACING:  The Extreme Cowboy Racing Championships will be held at the Maryborough Showgrounds over Saturday and Sunday, with riders and horses competing for State glory.

BMX:  Friday night racing at the Maryborough continues tonight with plenty of action on the

Tinana track.

CYCLING: The Fraser Coast Cycling Club begin the BMee Crit Race series on Sunday with the first round of action. The first race at the Hervey Bay Industrial Estate gets underway from 7 am.
