WEEKEND SPORT: It looks as if the rain is gone for the weekend, and we may finally get some local sport back onto our fields. Hi everyone, Dash here, and I hope you have had a good week.
Let’s see what is happening around the region.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Hervey Bay Beach Volleyball are hosting the Beach Bay Pairs tournament this weekend on the sands of Hervey Bay. Games of men’s, women’s, and mixed will be played over Saturday and Sunday at the Hervey Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, with games beginning at 9 am each day.
RUGBY LEAGUE: This week, Easts travel to Hervey Bay to play the Seagulls while Wallaroos play Brothers and Wests match up against ATW at Salter Oval. Female football returns to the Wide Bay with games at Stafford Park on Saturday. Junior mini/mod games go ahead tonight at Eskdale Park Maryborough.
FOOTBALL: In men’s premier league action, the Fraser Flames host S.C. Corinthians while UPE and the KSS Jets meet in Bundaberg. Bingera also plays Doon Villa in Bundaberg. ATW will play Rockhampton’s Frenchville in the next round of the Australia Cup. In the women’s, the United Warriors travel to Bundy to play ATW while the Fraser Flames host the Diggers. UPE and KSS Jets and Bingera and Tinana are scheduled for Bundaberg.
AFL: The State AFL 13-15 boys and girls School Championships continue in Hervey Bay and run through to Sunday. Some stars of the future are out on the field and on display.
CYCLING: The next round of the BMEE Cycling Crit race series gets underway on Sunday, with plenty of riders putting themselves to the test in Hervey Bay at the Airport Industrial Estate Circuit.
HOCKEY: Fraser Coast action continues with three games in Hervey Bay on Saturday. CBR is up against Magpies while HB Brothers play Granville in the men. In the women, it is Granville v Magpies. Maryborough will host the UniRoos and Bolts fixture.
BASKETBALL: The Hervey Bay Basketball junior games continue this afternoon at the Hervey Bay PCYC. Maryborough is also in full swing, with minis and marvels kicking off the day and continuing through the evening to under 18 competitions.
The Fraser Coasters Wheelchair Basketball is hosting the Wide Bay Bash tomorrow for people wanting to come and try at the Maryborough Basketball Stadium from 10.30 to 3.30 pm.
NETBALL: The Hervey Bay Netball Association fixtures continue on Saturday at the Fraser Cost Sports and Recreation Precinct.
