DASH’S WEEKEND SPORTS DIARY

WEEKEND SPORT:  Can you believe it is already Easter? Dash here; I hope you have had a good week.

This weekend, no significant sports are happening due to the Easter long weekend, so I am taking some time off to spend with family.

While we are having a break from the local sporting fields, we thought we would acknowledge some outstanding achievements from local athletes over the past week.

HOCKEY: Congratulations to the under 18 Queensland teams at the Under 18 Championships.  The Queensland maroon went down 2-1 to the gold team, with Andie Griffin part of the winning team.  We were well represented in the maroon squad, with Annelyse Tevant, Madeline Kenny and Meka Crick playing in the final.

In the under 15 boys’ championship, Owen Taylor, Cohen Usher and Harley Woodall won gold with the Queensland maroon team, while Ziggy Ridder won bronze with the gold team.

TRIATHLON: The Australian Super Sprint Championships were held at Runaway Bay, with Toby Powers winning the Junior Boys title. Dylan Smith finished seventh in the Youth A Final, while Charlotte Davies sixth in the Junior B final.

Congratulations!

Finally, I want to wish everyone a happy and safe Easter, and I look forward to seeing you back on our sporting fields next week.
