Media Release from Football Queensland

FOOTBALL: The FQPL Wide Bay Men’s All-Stars squad that will take on Brisbane Roar FC in the region’s third annual exhibition match this weekend has been confirmed.

The training squad of 25 players was narrowed down to a final squad of 21, including three shadow players following four weeks of training sessions.

“On behalf of Football Queensland, a big thank you to all of our training squad members for taking the time to attend training sessions in recent weeks ahead of the exhibition match this Saturday. You should all be proud of this achievement, and I hope you enjoyed the experience,” FQ General Manager – Central Coast Region Andy Allan said.

“Our Wide Bay region is excited to host Queensland’s only A-Leagues team again this weekend, and we encourage all members of our football community to come down to support our FQPL Wide Bay Men’s All-Stars and to enjoy what is set to be a fantastic match.

“Thank you to all of our Wide Bay clubs for their support and cooperation to ensure this year’s event is as successful as it was in 2021.

“Best of luck to all players who have been selected in the final squad and we hope you enjoy the match.”

“It has been fantastic to see players from across our FQPL Wide Bay Men’s clubs come together in recent weeks as part of the training squad for the exhibition match,” FQ Senior Manager – Club Development, Talent & Coaching Alec Wilson said.

“I’ve been very impressed with the standard we’ve seen from players at each session and I think our final squad features a great mix of youth and experience to challenge Brisbane Roar.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the FQPL Wide Bay Men’s All-Stars squad in action this weekend and wish each player all the best for the game.”
