SPORT: Lovers of sport are spoiled with choices on the Fraser Coast this weekend. Get out and watch and support some of the sporting events on display.
SOFTBALL: Next round in Hervey Bay and Maryborough at both grounds with Maryborough holding a valentine themed day. Check their Facebook page for further details.
CYCLING: Round one, of the Battle of the Bay – 3 race criterion series, gets underway on Sunday in Hervey Bay around the Hervey Bay Airport Industrial Estate.
FOOTBALL: Sunbury senior teams get out on the field for the first time this year when they host Gympie United in men’s trials.
The matches kick-off at 3 pm and 5 pm.
GRANVILLE CHARITY DAY: The annual charity football match between Granville and Granville Hockey gets underway on Saturday at Canning Street with the men’s game at 3 pm and the women at 4.15 pm.
WOMEN’S AFL: The women’s AFL season kicks off on Saturday with the Hervey Bay Bombers playing ATW in Bundaberg on Saturday.
The Bombers team will be going for four premierships in a row this season. Bay Power play the Gympie Cats in Gympie.
SCHOOLS’ TRIATHLON: Junior triathletes from around the state converge on Hervey Bay this week with the schools’ triathlon series underway on the Hervey Bay foreshore today and tomorrow. Racing begins from 8.15 am—some great racing expected with lots of locals competing.
CRICKET: Fraser Coast Senior competition moves to Newtown Oval Maryborough for double-header 20-20 action. Ausrocks play Cavnish while Past Grammars play in the first round.
Round 2 action has Ausrocks and Cavaliers facing off while Bushrangers play Cavnish in the other match.
In junior cricket Fraser Coast play Bundaberg in Hervey Bay on Sunday from 9 am.
